SPAC is now accepting submissions in the forms of visual art, literary art, and the performing arts for the 2022 Festival of Young Artists.

High school students and youth ensembles who reside in, or are part of a school organization located in the following NY counties - Albany, Essex, Fulton, Hamilton, Montgomery, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Rensselaer, Warren, Washington - are invited to submit photos of artwork, digital copies of literary compositions, and videos of performances.

The deadline for all submissions will be January 7, 2022.

2022 Festival Theme

The 2022 Festival theme will be Interdependence, inspired by the poem by presidential inaugural poet, Richard Blanco.

Works inspired by the theme are highly recommended, as this will increase the chances of your work being selected. However, it is not mandatory to use this theme as your primary source of inspiration for your submitted work to be considered.

In collaboration with WSWHE BOCES 2022 Talent Unlimited Contest

Up to three students who submit literary submissions will be selected to work with Richard Blanco in a series of two 2-hour virtual workshops during the months of March-May. These students will be working on their submitted pieces with Mr. Blanco and finessing their recitations of those pieces in preparation for a performance on the main stage at SPAC on June 5th.

In addition to selecting numerous works to be showcased in the online gallery and live event, Saratoga Performing Arts Center are awarding one student in each of the three categories -Visual Art, Literary Art, and the Performing Arts - with the distinction "FOYA 2022 Outstanding Artist".

In addition, each of the three artists selected will receive $500 to support the further development of their craft. Award money will be granted in the form of a written check and presented to the student either in the mail or at the live event, depending on whether a live event takes place in the spring.
